Offering fifteen square miles of prime beach-front property, world-class surfing, scenic foothills and spectacular high-end neighborhoods, San Clemente is at the southern tip of Orange County and is almost equidistant from San Diego and Los Angeles. This beautiful seaside community was founded in 1925 by Ole Hanson, his “Spanish Village by the Sea”. Hanson believed that the area's pleasant climate, beautiful beaches and fertile soil would serve as a haven to Californians. His vision proved true as this city with its stylish white stucco buildings with red tile roofs has become a premier destination and a sought after residential opportunity.
Historically, the growth of San Clemente flourished when Nixon purchased a Spanish mansion in the southern part of town known as the "Western White House" or “La Casa Pacifica”. This site became host to numerous historical meetings.
The area is also one of the West Coast's premier surfing spots and sometimes referred to as the “Surfing Capital of the West Coast”.
At water's edge, at the end of Avenida Del Mar is the San Clemente Pier. Surrounded by hotels and outdoor cafes and bistros, the pier has lured locals and fishermen since the 20’s. The area is also known as a haven for antique and art lovers, with numerous galleries.
The Capistrano Unified School District is widely acclaimed for its innovative educational programs. The schools have been recipients of the National Blue Ribbon Schools Program and 17 schools in the district have been designated as California Distinguished Schools.
The city is also easily accessible for commuters to Los Angeles and San Diego with numerous daily trains operated by Amtrak and Metrolink.
San Clemente is truly the ultimate “Spanish Village by the Sea”.
